The
writer of this guide, Joseph T. Masciotti, is the founder and owner
of The Landscape Lighting Company. After many years of specialty
indoor lighting design (museums, galleries, theatre, TV, still and
motion picture lighting), he applied his expertise to the development
of high-performance outdoor lighting for residential clients. Since
1985, his company has completed over 750 projects in suburban Philadelphia,
surrounding counties and cities, as well as nationwide. This guide
is a compilation of practical hands-on experience, bench- and field-testing
of components, consultation with electrical engineers and careful
data collection. It is also an attempt to set standards for excellence
in outdoor lighting where currently no standards exist.
